Are the old days of Alabama then everyone else gone? Many people are asking that question after the recent upset that Vanderbilt pulled off last weekend. Vanderbilt was 0-60 against AP top 5 opponents and hadn't beaten Bama in the last 20 some odd games they played, and not only did Vanderbilt beat them but they scored 40 points on the Alabama defense and seemingly had answer for every score Alabama had in that game. This would not have happened in the Saban era, but maybe that is the reason he decided to get out of coaching and join College Game Day. He no longer felt with the pay to play he could stash four 5* players at every position on defense because who would rather be a backup and not make any money than be a starter making 6 figures? Alabama isn't the only evidence that NIL is leveling the playing field 6 top 12 teams were upset last weekend yes some of those could have been flukes where the top team didn't play their best ball, but I still think many of these smaller power 4 schools simply have more talent then they used to because of NIL. This is certainly shaping up to be one of the more interesting years in college football and with the 12 team playoff this year it could be anyone's year to win a championship and personally I am here for it.
