To call offensive Pass Interference or not? That is the question.

Thee Ohio State Oregon might have been the biggest game of the year so far in college football. It also came with one of the biggest calls in college football. If you live under a rock and weren't watching the game or maybe had a wedding this weekend here is what happened; with about 15 seconds left in the game and Ohio State marching the field to get within range for a game sealing field goal, they decided to throw a pass already in field goal range. I would have ran the ball 3 times and called timeout but that would have negated the need for this blog post. Instead freshman Jeremiah Smith is running a stop route on Oregon's corner which is essentially running up the field looking like you are going deep and stopping on the route and coming back to catch the ball. When Smith went to stop at the top of his route he extended his arms and knocked the Oregon defender off balance creating separation. This is where the flag came in as that is the definition of Offensive Pass Interference. Some Ohio State fans cough cough (Bauer) are claiming it was physical all game and the refs had let them play that way. Because of that they are arguing the ref should have left his flag in his pocket and not made a call at the end of the game that hurt their chances of winning. I am of the complete opposite opinion and believe that whether it is a tight game or not the rules exist for a reason and not making that call and allowing that catch to stand because it was a big moment in the game is wrong. Why have the rules to begin with? Also, I would argue that every call in a game is big and can be a huge momentum shift but just because its called with 10 mins to go instead of 10 secs to go, people tend to not scrutinize those calls as much. We are asking you to decide this debate cast your vote in the poll below!
